From the dawn of mankind the sky at night has long held a special place of wonderment in the human psyche and this has continued to the present day. This course will cover mankind’s investigation of the heavens, from early man’s attempts to understand the motions of the moon and sun to our current understanding of the Earth’s place in the universe.
The course will be split into five units: man’s relationship with the stars through the ages; the planets in our solar system; the Sun and stars; galaxies and the universe; and observations of the universe and the search for alien life.
