Highgate Literary & Scientific Institution
We have been a focal point of Highgate's varied cultural life since we were established in 1839. One of the oldest such institutions still in existence in London, we are situated in the heart of Highgate Village, overlooking Pond Square, in the building to which we moved in 1840.
We offer new ideas, fascinating books, stimulating films and great company. There's a library for borrowing, research and browsing, a members' room for reading and we have just opened two new classrooms for our wide range of courses for adults. There are lectures, films, art exhibitions, musical occasions, events and trips to the theatre.
