This course is for students who want to draw and paint to develop work for the pleasure of learning new skills, to produce a portfolio or prepare for an exhibition.
Draw in line, tone and colour, explore dry and wet drawing materials, pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink and paint.
Draw different subjects from observation and use drawings, paintings or photographic references to make compositions.
Beginners will learn how to measure proportion and relate shapes and how to construct two dimensional space working on different dimensions and surfaces.
Experts will learn how to reinvigorate their working practice.
Improve your painting skills in water based media and oils. Learn about colour mixing, glazing and impasto.
Develop new visual ideas, look at other artists’ work.
Keep a working sketchbook, make collages and explore textures and relief surfaces.
Investigate drawing and painting processes to structure and stimulate different approaches/ideas.
All levels of experience are welcome. Students provide the materials of their choice.
Advice will be given to students wanting to use new materials.
Some drawing materials and paper will be provided.
