Hosted by Highgate Literary & Scientific Institution, the first Highgate Debate of 2016 addresses a topic at the centre of current political discussion, in this country and beyond. Economists Vicky Pryce and Ewen Stewart argue opposing views on Austerity as a valid response to the financial situation. Seconders are drawn from local school 6th forms. The pupils benefit from the experience of exposure to a public forum and working alongside high-profile experts in their field; we all gain from their fresh perspective. Members of the audience are then invited to make contributions from the floor. The Debate is free and open to the general public, as well as HLSI members.
