Japan 2015, 126 mins (dir. Hirokazu Kore-eda) starring Haruka Ayase, Masami Nagasawa, Kaho and Suzu Hirose.
Three sisters, aged from 19-29, live in their grandparents’ house after their parents separated and left them for other partners. They receive news of the death of their father whom they have not seen for 15 years, and at the funeral meet their 14-year-old half-sister, Suzu, for the first time. As there is no one else to take care of her, the eldest sister invites her to live with them. This charming film exploring family ties, growing up, and the balance between work and private life is from the director of Like Father Like Son, which we showed in an earlier season and which was a great success.
