Our lecture programme runs from early October until late April. In the intervening months the Summer Programme offers occasional lectures. The lectures are held on Tuesdays at 8.15pm.
When choosing speakers, the lecture committee is mindful of the fact that HLSI members and audiences have a wide range of interests. In addition to literary and scientific subjects, as befits an Institution such as ours, we aim to encompass social and political concerns, music, travel, the environment, law, gardening, history and more. In the past, along with other distinguished speakers, we have welcomed Joan Bakewell, A.S. Byatt, Andrew Motion, Michael Palin, Andrew Roberts, John Sorrell, Hilary Spurling, Marjorie Wallace, Marina Warner, Timberlake Wertenbaker and Lewis Wolpert. Our next programme is no less remarkable and stimulating.
